CATS

Cats are the most friendly and adorable mammal in whole kingdom and they are the most popular pet in the world, with over 600 million in homes all over the world. Cats have been kept by humans since at least ancient Egypt and it has been associated with humans for at least 9,500 years because they are meant to be the most expressive & understandable animal. According to a myth in many cultures, cats have nine (or sometimes seven) lives. Many ancient religions believed that cats are exalted souls, companions or guides for humans that they are all-knowing but are mute so they cannot influence decisions made by humans. In Japan, the Maneki Neko is a cat that is a symbol of “good fortune”.
Some peoples believed that dogs are the only friendly & interactive pets but by the passage of time they realized that cats are more friendly & interactive pets. Cats are the extremely friendly companions and they relate to humans differently than more social animals, enjoying their most of the time with humans. Cats are also very friendly with others cats but it depends on the bread of the cat. The hobby of adopting cats is known as cat fancy.
The strength of the cat-human bond usually depends on the human behavior. Most of the kittens are naturally scared of people at first, but if they are well cared and handled in the first few weeks, they will develop trust in the humans but at the same time some of the breads never get friendly with the stranger even they are much friendly with their owners.

As cats are very expressive & understandable animal that’s why their relation with humans is just like their own kid because most of their acts are similar with small baby. Though their expressions they express their feelings towards human i.e. when a cat blinks to a human, it is
looking for communication, friendship and love, although it is used also as a reflex and for humidify the eyes. A cat doesn’t blinks to everybody. Through their acts they express their feelings; same like that they know the feelings of their owner. when you are sad they came to you purring, rubbing you, making direct eye contact, and making these very soft mewling sounds in the backs of their throats and try to cheer up you. Cats get excited like kids whenever you came back at home they come flying out from wherever they are, thinking they are to be fed, lose their footing on the slick floor, and go sliding and crashing into your ankles as you are stand there. They tell you what they want through their acts like when you are walking they came around you, following you to lift them in to your arms and same like that when you are preparing food for them they looking to u and doing different acts. And they always love to play with you.

Cats daily duration of sleep varies, usually 12 to 16 hours, with 13to 14 being the average. Some breads of cat can sleep as much as 20 hours. The normal body temperature of a cat is between 38 and 39 °C (101 and 102.2 °F) and that’s the reason they love to sleep in sunlight. Cats are known for their fastidious cleanliness. They groom themselves by licking their fur, employing their hooked papillae and saliva .The teeth’s of cat have highly specialized for the killing of prey and the tearing of meat. One of great ability of cats is that they have free-floating clavicle bones, which allows them to pass their body through any space into which they can fit their heads. And one very interesting thing about cats is this that they are the only animal who walks right feet right that’s why the term cat walk is made. Cats have a wide variation in eye color, the most typical colors being golden, green and orange. Blue eyes are usually associated with the Siamese breed, but they are also found in white cats and kittens. A typical adult house cat scale of size is about 6 to 12 pounds.
Cats’ night vision is superior to humans although their vision in daylight is inferior. Humans and cats have a similar range of hearing on the low end of the scale, but cats can hear much higher-pitched sounds, up to 64 kHz, which is 1.6 octaves above the range of a human, and even one octave above the range of a dog. A domestic cat’s sense of smell is about fourteen times as strong as a human’s. Cat tail is a highly specialized because it helps to balance their body. Claws of cats providing an iron grip for climbing, a cat’s claws can be lethal.
Sense’s of cats
Cats have highly advanced senses like hearing, eyesight, taste, and touch receptors, making the cat extremely sensitive among all mammals.
• A cat’s sense of touch contributes mightily to its split-second reaction time.
• Special night-vision adaptations allow them to see extremely well in even the dimmest light.
• A cat’s vision is sharpest between 2 and 3 feet from its face, and its focus is on the center of what the cat observes rather than on the entire landscape.
• Cat vision is adapted to capture even the slightest movement. This makes the cat
one of the most successful hunters on land.
• Cat’s also having a mirror like membrane on the back of their eyes called a Tapetum. This helps them to see extremely well in near darkness.
• Cats have twice as many smell-sensitive cells in their noses as people do, which means they can smell things humans are not even aware of.
• Cat’s most likely sees in 3-D, very useful for judging distance.
• The most sensitive places on the cat’s body, where the nerve cells are concentrated, are the face and the front paws. This is because these are the most important body parts the cat uses while hunting.
• A feline constantly monitors the aromas around it to assess the risks and opportunities presented by its environment.
• Cat’s have a third eyelid, the nictitating membrane, which is a thin cover that closes from the side and appears when the cat’s eyelid opens.
• Cat’s whiskers are the most sensitive of all. The special hairs, called vibrissae, are set deep within the skin and provide the cat with sensory information about the slightest air movement around it.
• Cat does can see some colors, and can tell the difference between red, blue and yellow lights, as well as between red and green lights. Cats are able to distinguish between blues and violets better than between colors near the red end of the spectrum.
Body language of cats
• A cat will either move a little or give a faint “meow” if it does not want to be picked up.
• The displeasure at some situation can be shown by moving the ears back and rapidly swishing the tail.
• The constant shaking of a paws or the more times the paw is shaken, the stronger the cat’s feeling; this can sometimes be a four paw affair with each paw being lifted and shaken in turn. This behavior is possibly related to the identical action displayed after stepping into water.
• The swishing or sweeping of the tail in a wide swath, in mid-air or against a person or while leaving the room is a sign of aggression.
• The act of relaxation is shown as when a cat starts sprawling on the side or back and, possibly, rolling. Sometimes they roll over onto their back and shake their paws in the air.
• Affection: a pressing of the face or top of the head against a person’s body (head rubbing), leaving a scent to mark the cat’s territory; or rubbing in quick succession. Cats may also blink slowly as an expression of affection or security. Many cats also use a question mark-shaped tail to show desire to greet someone they are fond of.
• Upon being approached, it will fall down on its side, indicating it is not seeking attention and is unwilling to put up a fight.
• Ears up and moved slightly forward shows real interest in what is going on, while ears moved backward shows distaste and desire to not engage with the situation. Cats show disapproval by moving their ears back, an equivalent of a human frown.
Vocal calls of cats
• Purring is often a sign of contentment. Some cats purr when they are in extreme pain, or in labor, simply to try to calm themselves down. Purring therefore can be a sign of pleasure or pain; usually it is the former.
• A particular sort of vocalization, such as a low meow or chirp, possibly with simultaneous purring.
• Mewing is a plea for help or attention often made by kittens. There are two basic types of this call, one more loud and the other more high-pitched.
• Often simple meows and mews in both older cats and young kittens. A commanding meow is a command for attention, food, or to be let out.
• Cats will often “chatter” or “chirrup” on seeing something of interest out of the window. This is sometimes attributed to mimicking birdsong to attract prey or draw others attention to it, but often birds are not present.
